Welcome!
GatherGuide.FYI is a freely-editable community wiki for recording past Dual Power Gatherings for folks who want to host their own. It describes the problems we faced, attempted solutions, and things we learned in the process. If you've participated in a Gathering, don't forget to leave something here for the next batch of gatherers to learn from!
Disclaimer: part of the value of a Gathering is the planning itself: it's a low-stakes environment for practicing self-motivated, collective solving of a bunch of small problems that roll up into a larger project. The Guide is here so you don't have to start from scratch, but it can't do your homework for you!
Not sure where to go from here? The Sitemap (look in the top-right) is a great place to start! (An actual table of contents is under construction)
Want to add or edit a page? Try searching for it! If the page can't be found, you'll be given a link to create a new page with your search text as the name. If you want your page to show up under a category, give it a namespace by including a colon in the name. For example, attending:camping will create a page named “Camping” under the “Attending” namespace.
Coming Soon
- A main table of contents / “Start here” kind of pages
- A brief manual for wiki editing (tho maybe you're better off looking at the one linked in the Sitemap)
- Some kind of structure / aggregating. This might take the form of namespaces, but I think tag pages might be more appropriate for some things.
- “Planning” for things pages about things to do in the lead up to a Gathering. In contrast to the “Attending” namespace that's already there.
- Planning probably has multiple sub-categories (e.g. food, outreach, site, finance, etc…)
- Pages for specific Gatherings, and sub-pages for things specific to those events.
- Some plugins to make editing easier and page rendering a little prettier are on the to-do list.
- Blogging. It'd be cool if folks could publish more freeform prose and have that aggregated appropriately.
- Styling. The default DokuWiki style is kind of ugly, and we could use a cool logo or something.
